Summary of Summit forum in 2015

 

“Summit forum on extracorporeal shock wave therapy for osteoarthritis and bone necrosis” sponsored by Chinese Shock Wave Medical Professional Committee was successfully held in Beijing on June 27, 2015. The opening ceremony of the forum was chaired by Professor Xing Gengyan, chairman of the meeting and chairman of Chinese Shock Wave Medical Professional Committee. Professor Li Zirong, director of Surgical Department and Orthopedics Department, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Professor Liu Yujie, vice chairman of Sports Medicine, Chinese Medical Association and Professor Zhou Mouwang, director of Rehabilitation Medicine Center, Peking University Third Hospital attended the meeting.

In this summit forum, domestic well-known experts and professors in shock wave and sports medicine were invited for academic exchanges on progress of ESWT for bone diseases as well as application of shock wave combined with arthroscopy. More than one hundred experts in relevant areas from hospitals around the country gathered together for deep discussion on the topic-oriented contents. During the same period, 2015 Standing Committee meeting of Shock Wave Medical Professional Committee, Chinese Research Hospital Association was held to deeply discuss and revise “Consensus on extracorporeal shock wave therapy for skeletal muscle disease”. Also, the Standing Committee members schematized the work plan and development direction of the professional committee. It is believed that application and in-depth research on this new technology will promote the spread and development of shock wave medicine in China, and benefit the majority of patients.
